Would You Like 3 More Hours in Your Day?
Having more energy is like actually gaining hours in your day. Magically! Think about it, when you get home from a crazy day, you walk in the kitchen, and you say to yourself, “I don’t have time to make dinner, I’m just going to order pizza.” Do you really not have the time, or do you not have the energy?
Recently, I have been working with a few new clients who are all struggling with the same thing. They are trying to get their businesses off the ground, but they are totally overwhelmed by all there is to learn and do. In the midst of trying to build a business (even if it’s a wellness or healthcare business!) they are sacrificing their own health and sanity!
They feel like they just don’t have time to do it all. They may be right.
But, the good news is that they don’t have to do it all, and neither do you. You just have to do a few things really well. And, when you are energized, doing those things well gets easier.
What do I recommend to add 3 hours of productive time to your day?
First of all, you must give your body the nutrient building blocks that it really needs. You are the master of your own little business empire. Start to take care of yourself like you are the hotshot CEO of your company. (Because, just FYI… you actually are!) No matter how tiny your company is right now, you are its leader, its face in the world. Start treating yourself like the rock star, business woman that you are. When you take care of yourself and take yourself seriously like you mean it, others will too.
Picture your favorite, powerful businesswoman out there. What would it take for you to begin to exude her energy? What would it take for you to start acting like you are the CEO of your own powerful brand?
When you begin to take care of yourself as the important leader that you are, you nourish yourself in ways that rev up your energy! +1 hour for you!
My next suggestion is to give yourself a “laptop curfew.” Turn it off, on a regular basis at a regular time. You are not a robot. Be uber-productive when you are working. When you are NOT working, don’t be “kind of working.” You are either working (well and focused), or you’re not. You will be amazed at how much more you get done, and how much better you feel when you really focus when you’re working and really rejuvenate when you’re not. +2 hours for you!
Finally, drink water, and plenty of it. I did a little hydration survey of my tribe recently and most of you are not drinking at least the recommended 50% of your weight in ounces each day. Most of you are drinking at least some caffeine and alcohol each day too. If you’re in that camp, you need even more water each day. Get yourself a cute water bottle, fill it in the morning, and drink it. Start each day with a full glass of warm water with a squeeze of lemon. When that 3pm slump arrives (if you’re not yet working with me, and are still having those!), drink another full glass of lemon water, and see if it helps you to sail through your afternoon with more gusto!
